Event Medical Cover

Pre-hospital emergency medical cover for any size of public or private event, from a self-contained private ambulance service.

Every SWMEC team is briefed before the event by the lead paramedic, so all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities and ready to manage a medical emergency. Our clinicians are drawn from paramedic managers, advanced and critical care practitioners, technicians, first aiders, GPs, critical care and A&E doctors and nurses – all active NHS staff.

Emergency Medical Planning

Full emergency medical planning assistance and advice on best practice, in line with the Safety at Sports Grounds Guide (the Green Guide) and the Purple Guide.

The planning process includes all Health & Safety risk assessments. We contribute to the local authority's safety advisory group and work directly with the NHS Ambulance Service, Fire, Police and Health Boards. For every event we produce a rigid Event Medical Plan, a Major Incident Plan, Action Cards and a comprehensive post-event medical report and analysis.

Ambulances & Response Vehicles

A modern fleet, purpose built for our requirements, ranging from frontline ambulances and rapid response cars to dedicated 4x4 vehicles.

All vehicles are maintained to a very high standard by approved ambulance mechanics and engineers. The fleet is tracked 24/7, receives major servicing every six months and detailed safety checks every four weeks, and runs on a daily check, report, replace and clean system. Every vehicle carries Ambulance Blue Light motor insurance.

Community First Aid Training

Accredited, approved First Aid and Defibrillator training delivered to schools and community groups across Wales, from our own dedicated training venue.

SWMEC is a Qualsafe Approved Centre and a CIEH Registered Centre. Alongside community courses we provide annual First Aid refresher training for client staff, run from our dedicated training venue near the M4.

Specialist Patient Transport

A self-contained private ambulance service supporting the NHS, including hospital transfers and patient movements.

The same clinicians, standards and fleet that cover events provide both urgent and non-urgent patient transport. Every operation is backed by over 250 staff, a dedicated SWMEC manager available 24/7, a clinical advice line and an on-call emergency consultant.
